Fort Worth Zoo Again Named a Top Zoo in the Nation
Zoo hosts buy one, get one free day commemorating latest honor
FORT WORTH, TX – USA Travel Guide released its ranking of the country’s best zoos and selected the Fort Worth Zoo as the No. 5 zoo in the nation.

In celebration of this recognition, on Sunday, February 22, the Zoo will host a buy one, get one free day, giving patrons a complimentary child’s ticket for every paid adult ticket.

USA Travel Guide, an online guide maintained by Worldwide Revenue Solutions (WRS), a hospitality Internet-marketing company based in Dallas, provides readers with daily updates on travel options, as well as hotel and resort information.

According to the website, the Fort Worth Zoo was selected based not only on acclaim it has received, but also on the number of species represented in its collection.

“We are honored to be included on this list with so many other quality institutions,” said Michael Fouraker, Fort Worth Zoo executive director. “Our Zoo has a long history of bringing to our community the very best in education, entertainment and conservation, and it’s exciting to have those accomplishments recognized. Sunday’s celebration is part of our thank you to the community for helping us to achieve this national honor.”

The Zoo will be adding to its collection with the opening in late spring of the Museum of Living Art (MOLA), a 30,000-square-foot, indoor-outdoor herpetological facility, which will house more than 300 amphibian and reptile species, representing about 900 animals. MOLA will replace the Zoo’s popular but dated Herpetarium, which was built in 1960. The new facility will be the only herpetarium of its kind in the world, impressive not only for the diverse and rare animal collection it houses, but also for its rare architecture and building design.

The Fort Worth Zoo is open 365 days a year and regular admission rates are $12 for adults, $8 for children (ages 3 to 12) and $7 for seniors. Admission is half-price every Wednesday.

The nationally ranked Fort Worth Zoo has been named the No. 1 attraction in the Dallas / Fort Worth area by Zagat survey. Home to nearly 500 animal species and a world-famous reptile collection, the Zoo supports more than 20 conservation projects around the globe. The institution’s focus on education and conservation is second to none, enhancing the lives of more than 1 million visitors a year.
