Fort Worth Zoo breaks previous attendance record
Spring break families flock to Zoo on half-price Wednesday
|
FORT WORTH, Texas – Wednesday, March 17, the Fort Worth Zoo set an all-time single day attendance record. At closing time, Zoo officials determined that at least 25,804 guests visited the park.* The previous single day attendance record, 25,139 was set on half-price Wednesday during spring break 2009.
Zoo management attributes the record-setting attendance to the opening of the Zoo’s new 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Herpetarium the Museum of Living Art (MOLA), regular half-price Wednesday admission discount, Dallas and Fort Worth ISD’s spring break week and sunny, warm weather conditions.
In conjunction with the Fort Worth Police Department and Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department, the Zoo planned several alternate routes beyond the standard I-30 to University Drive exit and provided parking and traffic control in several auxiliary lots surrounding the Zoo during spring break week.
Consistently ranked a top attraction in the DFW Metroplex, the Zoo was recently ranked the #5 zoo in the nation by USA Travel Guide, and more than 1 million people visit the 100-year-old Zoo each year.
The Fort Worth Zoo is open 365 days a year and regular admission rates are $12 for adults, $9 for children (ages 3 to12), FREE for toddlers 2 and under and $9 for seniors.
