Teen Volunteer Program
Planning is currently underway for the Summer 2010 Fort Worth Zoo Volunteens Program. The program is open to youth ages 12 through 18 who will be entering the 7th through 12th grades in September of 2010. Our summer Volunteens act as teacher aides to the Education Department's Summer Zoo Camp Instructors. They gather materials, prepare and assist campers with activities, help escort campers on daily Zoo trips and present a song, craft or story to their group of campers. Each Volunteen will volunteer for one week, Monday through Friday, and will earn 40 community service hours.
Prospective teen applicants and a parent or guardian are required to attend one of three orientations to be held in February 2010. The application packets are explained and distributed only during these orientation sessions. The dates are:
Tuesday, February 16
Or
Wednesday, February 17
Or
Thursday February 18
All meetings are 6 to 7 p.m. in the Fort Worth Zoo Education Center.
Reservations are not necessary and there is no advantage to any one night over another.
