Safari Shuttle summer Saturday service to the Zoo starts May 24

Shuttle runs every Saturday through Oct. 25 from downtown Intermodal Transportation Center

FORT WORTH, Texas – The T and the Fort Worth Zoo will resume the Saturday Safari Shuttle Zoo Trolley service from The T’s downtown Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) to and from the Fort Worth Zoo. The service will start Saturday, May 24, and operate every Saturday through Oct. 25, 2014.

The Zoo traditionally has higher attendance on Saturdays during the summer, so the Safari Shuttle offers an inexpensive, alternative way to travel to and from the Zoo. The Safari Shuttle will run on Saturdays, only, from Bus Bay A, adjacent to the Trinity Railway Express platform at The T’s downtown Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) at 1001 Jones Street to the Zoo’s main parking lot entrance on Colonial Parkway. The stop is just a short walk from the Zoo’s entrance gate. The shuttles will run every 30 minutes beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the ITC. The last shuttle leaves the Zoo at 7 p.m.

For those who wish to park and ride from downtown, paid parking is available across the street from the ITC. The ITC also has a drive-through lane for personal vehicles to drop off and pick up riders. A bus day pass to ride the Safari Shuttle round trip is $3.50 for adults and $1.75 for children ages 5 to 18 and for seniors age 65 and older. Children under age 5 ride free with an adult. Trinity Railway Express (TRE) passengers from Dallas and the Mid-Cities may conveniently catch the Safari Shuttle at the ITC and ride free of charge with their TRE day, weekly, monthly or annual pass. For non-TRE riders, the shuttle is the same as a bus fare.

The Fort Worth Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to Sunday. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and children (ages 2 to 12) and toddlers 2 and under are FREE. Admission is half-price every Wednesday (no Safari Shuttle Service on Wednesdays).
