Go Ape for the Fort Worth Zoo’s 19th Annual Zoo Run
February 18, 2016
FORT WORTH, Texas – Lace up your running shoes and don your best animal costume – the 19th annual Zoo Run, presented by Ideal Partners, is Saturday, April 2! This family friendly event supports the Zoo’s extensive wildlife conservation and education efforts locally and around the world.
Zoo Run includes a timed 5K and 5K Fun Run as well as a 1K Fun Run. The races will take place on a USA Track and Field-certified course along the Zoo’s main pathway and throughout the beautiful surrounding neighborhood.
New this year is a costume contest. Runners are invited to dress up like their favorite Zoo animal and participate in the first-ever Zoo Run costume contest. There will be prizes for first, second and third place winners, as well as theme awards. Adults must keep their faces visible and all runners must wear their bibs on the outside of their costumes. Costume contest participants must have their photo taken at the designated booth to be considered for prizes. Results will be announced on the Zoo’s Facebook page.
All pre-registered runners receive a 2016 Zoo Run T-shirt, virtual race bag full of offers from area businesses and one admission pass to the Fort Worth Zoo. Runners will enjoy food, drinks and activities after the race, including an awards ceremony, costume contest and a live animal presentation.
