On Sept. 15, staff from the Fort Worth Zoo, Texas Parks and Wildlife and other zoos released 151 Texas horned lizard hatchlings at the Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area, 115 of which were hatched at the Zoo. The Fort Worth Zoo is the first zoo to successfully breed and maintain a population of these lizards. The release helps to restore this threatened species to its home range and creates more healthy horned lizard bloodlines. Congrats to our horned lizard staff and many partners who helped make the release possible!
