Fifth-graders organize animal enrichment drive

Two Lakeview Elementary fifth-graders organize an animal enrichment drive for Philanthropy Week at school

For Philanthropy Week at Lakeview Elementary, two fifth-graders independently researched, organized, promoted and coordinated an animal enrichment drive at their school on behalf of the Zoo. Along with the class teacher, school principal and volunteers, Natalie and Peyton dropped off a truckload of puzzle feeders, grapevine wreaths, parrot toys, raffia and more for the animals to forage, explore and play with! The donations were a school-wide effort, and the girls even sacrificed their recess for an entire week to collect the items. At the end of their visit, Sheldon, the Zoo’s outreach armadillo, interacted with some of the items, showing the girls just how much their contribution enhances animal welfare.

Thank you Lakeview Elementary for supporting the Zoo!
